Biography
Paola is an EU official working on defence topics at the European Commission. She conducts legal and policy analyses to ensure a competitive and integrated EU defence industry in support of the EU’s strategic autonomy. Prior to her current position as a legal officer in the Directorate-General Defence Industry and Space, Paola served as a policy officer on cybercrime in the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs.
Before becoming an EU official, Paola started her career in Luxembourg at the European Court of Justice and at the Statistical Office of the EU. She then moved to Brussels to work at NATO where she coordinated various of the International Staff’s diversity and inclusion programmes. When the COVID pandemic began she also become a taskforce member in the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre.
Passionate about music, Paola graduated with full honours from the Conservatory while obtaining her international relations Masters' Degree at the University of Milan. She then pursued a Masters' Degree in law at the University of Bologna, writing her thesis on the lack of regulation of sexist advertisements. Paola has always been interested in academia and has also worked as a legal researcher, co-authoring a book on human rights.
