Biography
Florentine Hopmeier has been Member of Cabinet of the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, working on Europe’s recovery fund, since 2021. Prior to that she was Head of EBRD's EU Representative Office in Brussels.
Ms Hopmeier, an Austrian national, joined EBRD from the European Commission where she held a number of roles. After her time as Team Leader in DG ECFIN (Treasury and Financial Operations), she served as a Member of Cabinet of Vice President Jyrki Katainen, where her work focused on financial and economic policy files, including the set-up of the Juncker Plan and InvestEU. She also served as a Member of Cabinet of Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn.
Ms Hopmeier is a financial economist by training and holds a Master in Business Administration from HEC Paris and a Master in Public Affairs from Sciences Po Paris.
She is passionate about women's empowerment, participated in WIL's Women Talent Pool leadership programme in 2018 and is an Aspen Institute NEXT fellow.
